Practitioner Spotlight - Alice Maclaine
Meet Alice, one of our advanced practitioners and a trainer on our Special Yoga for Special Children Live Online Foundation course. She also shares meditation practices in our Advanced Level Two training.

“I met Jyoti in 2000 in Queen’s Park, London. My son was a year old, and I was looking for a local yoga teacher. Jyoti was teaching a small group of women in her home, and her classes were long and gentle which was exactly what I needed.
One morning, she told me that she really wanted to work with children with special needs and I was instantly onboard. Jyoti hosted trainings in London, and I took part, particularly moved by the sessions that I observed, such total love and acceptance.
When Jyoti opened her first studio, I taught classes for children and started sharing yoga one-to-one. Ever since those early days, I have continued with this beautiful work, even during periods when I’ve been teaching full time. I trained again with Jyoti when she developed the Special Yoga training pathway and really enjoyed participating in the first level 2 in-person training. During lockdown, I began supporting students on the online courses as a study group leader and mentor. I also share meditation practices on the level 2 course. Of course, the way that I work has changed a lot over the years.
Everything has become more effortless, and I really feel that we have the most to offer when we are fully present and open-hearted.”
