Practitioner Spotlight: Clare Wheeler
Meet Clare Wheeler, one of our recently qualified Advanced Level Two Practitioners:

“I trained as a yoga teacher in 2012 with Yoga Scotland. Although I loved the course, I didn’t have the confidence to begin teaching. I was held back by self-doubt - “not bendy enough, not experienced enough… not good enough.”
When I decided to return to work, inspired by my daughter’s needs, I took a role in a communication provision for neurodivergent children. During time, I noticed that children who felt dysregulated would move into yoga postures to help themselves feel better. Wanting to understand this, I discovered Special Yoga and travelled from Edinburgh to London to train on their Autism and ASD course. It felt like everything came together -my love of yoga and passion for working with children with additional support needs.
After the course, I began teaching small groups and one-to-one sessions within the unit where I worked. I was amazed by simple movements, along with being mindful of my own state, could make such a difference. I was hooked.
Since, I have completed the Foundation Course, Level One and Level Two. I’ve found a supportive community that continues to share knowledge and encouragement. The training is kind, comprehensive, and rich in experience. My own practice has become softer and more nourishing, shaping how I work with children and young people.
I’ve gained the confidence to fully step into my role as a yoga teacher and now work with more complex needs, which I love. I’m incredibly grateful to Special Yoga for their expert training and ongoing support.”
