Practitioner Spotlight: Tory Campbell
Meet Tory Campbell, Special Yoga Advanced Practitioner and Trainer on our Foundation and Senior Level One Courses. Tory also works in our office as Special Yoga's Operations and Development Manager.
"I first came across yoga as a student in London in 1993. Later, when I became unwell with ME, my yoga practice had to change significantly. During that time, I learned to let go of expectations, adapt my practice and meet myself where I was each day – lessons that have stayed with me ever since.
In 2015, I was working in a Day Service for Adults with LD when I discovered Special Yoga, and was excited to be able to combine my work and hobby. I completed my first training with Richard Kravetz, brought it back to the centre and was amazed at the positive impact Special Yoga had on the people we supported.
In 2016, I set up SHINE Special Yoga in Belfast, sharing yoga with children and adults with additional needs across Northern Ireland.
I became a Special Yoga Trainer and Study Group Leader in 2020, and in 2025 joined the Special Yoga team as Operations and Development Manager – so I now wear a couple of different Special Yoga hats!
I’m especially drawn to 1:1 work with individuals with complex needs, as well as inclusive family sessions and chair and mat yoga with adults with learning disabilities. I also love supporting babies, children and young people through my work with local sight-loss charities.
For me, Special Yoga is about connection and possibility. And I love it!"
